In a lot of cases the source vacuum on the 6.2l diesel is a mechanical vacuum pump that has a constant vacuum that doesn't vary. It's purpose is to regulate the source vacuum going to your transmission modulator so your transmission can shift accordingly to the load on your engine. Documentation for this regulator is sparse. My attempt here is to dispel this problem/mystery.įirst of all, this vacuum regulator is a very poor design and notorious for failing and grossly misunderstood.
I know this is an old thread but I still hear ppl's having a problem with the transmission shifting on 6.2l that incorporates the AC Delco 14057219 VCV or VRV (vacuum regulator valve).
